Del otro lado de la lente

Me encanta capturar momentos, es mágico el sentimiento de tener una cámara en mis manos pero siempre he sido una pésima modelo.  Si veo una cámara frente a mi, me pongo roja, me da nervio, saco sonrisa chueca y termino por enojarme o voltearme.  ¡Un espanto!

Esto ha ido a peor desde que me dedico a la fotografía, porque entonces ahora por mi cabeza pasan todas las posibles consecuencias de que lo que está haciendo el amigo en turno con su cámara me hará ver fatal en la foto.  jaaaaa

Así que desde hace un tiempo tenía ganas de contratar una sesión mía de mi. Como fotógrafa, tenía tener unas fotos decentes mínimo y para experimentar lo que sienten mis clientes y entenderlos mejor.

Hice mi investigación, tenía que buscar el estilo y calidad que cumpliera con mis expectativas y justo me enteré que esta fotógrafa que sigo hace un tiempo estaría en México. Se llama Marta Kowalska, me gusta mucho su estilo y aunque hace bodas y sesiones familiares, también hace algunas fotos de moda que me llamaban mucho la atención.   Porque las fotos familiares en el campo están muy lindas, pero siendo honestos yo de campirana tengo poco JA

La contacté, nos pusimos de acuerdo y agendamos la sesión.  Me encantó que me dijo "pero los fines de semana los tengo ya ocupados..." y yo respondí  "¡yo también!"   

Antes de la sesión, la parte de la preparación fue de lo más divertida, esto es emocionante!!!  Así que me fui de compritas, escogí y preparé los "outfits", seguí sus instrucciones en cuanto a la cantidad de outfits, la hora mejor de luz para la sesión y madrugué para estar peinadita y bien lista 8:00am con ella. 

¡Y valió la pena!  Consiguió que yo me relajara, disfrutara la experiencia y dejara un poco de pensar.  Ella dirigió todas las locaciones, poses, caras y demás y yo fui, "modelo por un día".   Y el resultado me ¡Fascinó!    Estoy encantada con mis nuevas fotos, todos mis perfiles del cyberespacio ya tienen nuevo look y algunas imprimiré para la familia porque nada como las fotos impresas.  Y ya estoy pensando que quiero otra sesión la próxima vez que Marta esté de nuevo en México  XD

I love to take pictures and capture the moment, I think photography is magic. But I've always been a terrible model.  I never like to have my picture taken and I make faces, get nervous and act weird.    This has been worse since I'm a photographer, now I think of all the possible scenarios on how that picture will let me look awful. Hence I have very few decent photos of myself.

For some time now, I've been thinking about getting some professional portraits done.  As a photographer I really needed some decent photos of myself and also to be able to experience what my clients do when they come to me for photos.

I did my research looking for someone which style and quality were what I was looking for and I was in that process when I learned that this photographer that I've been following for sometime was going to be in Mexico and had some available dates. Her name is Marta Kowalska and I like her style very much.  She does weddings and family portraits but also some very interesting fashion work with a very urban feel that closed the deal for me.

I contacted her, we scheduled the session and funny, she told me "but I have weekends already booked"  and being booked all weekends too myself I answered "Me too!"  LOL  

Before the session was one of the best parts, preparing for it was really exciting!  I went shopping and decided the outfits, followed all her recommendations on number of outfits, timing for the session to get the best light and woke up really early to get ready and be there at 8:00am.

It was totally worth it!!!  She made sure I was always confortable, let me relax and stop thinking. She directed everything, locations, poses, faces and let me feel "model for a day" And the end result was everything I was hoping for.   I'm super happy with my photos, already changed all of my profile and avatar pics everywhere and will surely be printing some for the family, there is nothing like printed photos!!!  And I'm already thinking I want another session next time she's here LOL

Y se acabó 2013, año maravilloso para mi, de muchísimo crecimiento, grandes emociones y muchas experiencias.

Estoy listísima para recibir al 2014, con la familia todos cerca y sanos, agradecida por todo lo que he recibido, muchos planes, muchos cambios e ilusionada de reencontrar a algunos amigos que por la distancia no veo tan seguido.  Pero siempre es lindo hacer un recuento, "cerrar el ciclo", y tomar unos momentos para agradecer lo vivido y darle a todo su espacio en el baúl de los recuerdos.

2013 is almost over, it was a year filled with growth, big emotions and amazing experiences for me.  I'm ready to welcome 2014, happy with all my family healthy and close, thankful for all that I've received, lots of plans many changes on the way and excited to see again some friends that I don't see often because of the distance.  But it's always good to close the cycles and take a minute to contemplate what we have lived.

Lo primero es agradecer a todas y cada una de las hermosas familias que me dan la confianza de fotografiar a sus pequeños. Es un honor y me dan la posibilidad de cumplir todos mis sueños ya que el trabajo que tengo es un sueño y además me pagan por ello así que con eso puedo viajar, aprender más y vivir.  ¡Gracias infinitas!  Cada uno de ustedes son especiales para mi y ver todas estas sonrisas y caritas juntas me ponen el corazón gordo de emoción.

I will forever be grateful for all the people I get to know. Making new friends is a wonderful gift and this year I had the opportunity to meet incredible professionals, now many of them I can count as friends.  I learn so mo from you everyday an I am so happy to have you all in my life.

Las últimas semanas e incluso meses han sido un torbellino, después de atrasarme un poco con la mudanza del estudio y otro más con el viaje a Seattle, las ediciones de las sesiones se han ido "apilando en la bandeja de cosas por hacer" y mientras adelantaba una, caían otras dos nuevas.  Más bebés, más mamis embarazadas, más chiquitines cumpliendo años.

Las últimas semanas he bajado un poco el ritmo para ir poniéndome al día y por ahora contando con las sesiones de la última semana, creo que tengo sólo como 10 en la "cola".  Esperemos que estos días que estoy "en guardia" para el nacimiento de sobrini, me de para avanzar y por fin ponerme al día  ;)

Y lo que más ha sufrido ha sido mi trabajo personal, ya de plano dejé de hacer sesiones personales desde julio y unos pocos videos bien básicos han sido editados en esta computadora.  :(  Pero bueno, con los cambios que espero hacer para el próximo año, una de mis prioridades será apartar días y espacio para mis proyectos personales, que tanta falta me hacen para darle una sacudida a mi creatividad y nunca llegar a aburrirme haciendo este trabajo tan lindo que tengo. 

Por ahora y para no dejar de editar, les comparto un par de vídeos de pasteles de cumpleaños que hice hace poco.  ¡Como me divierten estas sesiones!

Diario de una tía fotógrafa * camino al "fine art"

¡No puedo creer que ha pasado ya un mes desde que estuve en Seattle para el curso en creativeLive! Fue regresar y tener una inundación de sesiones por realizar y editar  (de la cual todavía no me recupero) y he tenido tiempo para poco más que trabajar y entrar a la rutina.  Así que la experiencia sigue estando ahí a medio digerir, todavía fresca en mi memoria.

Hace un par de semanas conseguí hacerme un huequito para fotografiar a la yoguini y el cuñado y probar algunas de las cositas que nos enseñó Sue Bryce en el curso pero hasta hace unos días tuve tiempo para editarlas, porque requieren más que sólo tocar una ojera por aquí, y una arruguita por allá. Hasta ahora mis fotos de maternidad eran bien simples, casi siempre en fondo blanco y con la ropa que trae cada mamá, así que yo integro su estilo con el mío, pero ahora, se trataba de crear un concepto, manejar texturas y darle un toque final más cercano a un cuadro.

Y tengo que decir que ¡Me encanta!  Próximamente me verán llevando mis sesiones hacia esta línea, porque creo que es original y les deja un recuerdo mucho más atemporal, independiente de las modas y la ropa de esta o la otra marca. 

Ya me dirán ustedes lo que opinan con este cambio, por lo pronto chequen lo guapa que se pone cada día mi hermanita, lista para convertirse en mamá.  ¡ya casi, ya casi!!!

I really can't believe a month has gone since I was in Seattle at creativeLive!  I came back to an overwhelming amount of sessions to realize and edit and haven't really caught up yet, so I've had little time to do anything except work and keep up with the rutine.  So the experience of the trip is still fresh in my mind, lot's of things to do and practice yet.

A couple of weeks ago I took a day and went home to photograph my yoguini sister and brother in law and tried some of what Sue Bryce taught us, but it wasn't until this last weekend that I had the time to edit those photos.  Up until now my maternity photos have been very classic, laid back, white background, moms choose their clothes and I only would edit a little face line here or wrinkle in the clothes there.  But this style goes beyond, I had to pick up the fabrics, the flowers, create a concept and then make an editing with far more depth and texture, closer to a painting.

And I have to say I love it!!!!! Now you will see I will push my sessions more into this style, because I think it's original, and gives the moms a more valuable and timeless memory.

Además de las sesiones de maternidad y bebés, una de mis preferidas es la del primer cumpleaños. Encontramos de todo, bebés que aman el azúcar, otros no tanto, los penosos, los que huyen de volada del "set" y los que nos regalan muchas risas.

Hoy quiero compartir la última sesión de pastel que hice fuera del estudio, los colores de la casa tengo que decir que ayudan mucho, y esta mamá tiene casi más props que yo XD  En fin que el resultado fue una maravilla, explosión de color total para recordar este momento tan importante en la vida de esta pequeña hermosa.

Advierto que es una peque muy tranquilita, siempre desde sus sesiones pasadas, cuando mira a la cámara es más por interés que sonriente, pero por lo mismo encuentro que en sus fotos ella tiene un aire un poco de muñeca antigua pero en un set de lo más moderno.  ¡Me encanta!

Eso si, como podrán ver, el pastel no le pareció tan interesante, lo importante en esta etapa de su vida son ¡Los globos!  a todos los niños les gustan los globos, pero nunca con tal intensidad como a ella!!!!

Diario de una tía fotógrafa * Seguimiento de embarazo 2

¡Ahora si, me pongo al día con el avance del crecimiento del inquilino en la barriga de la yoguini!!!!

No la he visto desde las tomas con el brócoli y le tocan más fotos esta semana, según me informan, está enoooorme!!!!!  Ya veremos esas fotos pronto. Por ahora les dejo la segunda parte del seguimiento y de pilón, una foto de lo que realmente pasa en estas sesiones. Bien dicen que lo más difícil es fotografiar a la familia  ¡Cierto!  Me cuesta un trabajo dirigir las expresiones de mi hermana.

I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks since the last shot and what I've heard is that that little passenger has grown a lot!!!  We'll see soon enough this weekend in her follow up session, right now I share with you all the remaining photos and a little extra to show you the real deal in the session. They are right when they say it's harder to work with family, It's so hard to direct her!!!

Fotografía embarazo  *  Las sesiones lifestyle

Ultimamente me ha tocado que me llamen muchas mamás de "segunda vuelta" ¿Cómo que de segunda vuelta se preguntarán?  Pues si, que ya tuve la oportunidad de registrar el embarazo y a su primer retoño y ahora esperan al segundo.  Para mi es genial porque me toca ver lo que han crecido los chiquitines que fueron mis primeros modelos y me hace una ilusión enorme. Pero la verdad me preocupa mucho que en su segunda sesión de embarazo reciban un "copy - paste" de las fotos de la primera sesión.

Se que si me están volviendo a llamar es porque les gusta lo que hago, pero aún así me gusta darles algo nuevo para este nuevo pequeñin o pequeñita, además de que la dinámica de la sesión es totalmente diferente cuando uno de los participantes tiene de 1 a 3 años y ya siente que llega el hermano menor jajaja, así que estoy aprovechando para hacer las fotos posadas que no pueden faltar y luego algunas fotitos en el estilo lifestyle y la verdad es que el resultado me encanta.  Muestra el espacio en donde se encuentra esta familia, su casa en este caso, y es como guardar un instante en movimiento, es más fácil contar una historia.

Les dejo de muestra las fotitos de una sesión genial, el pronto hermano mayor es un peque inteligentísimo que se sabe todas las letras así que amó mis cubitos para nombres jejeje  y los papás, como siempre, tan divertidos y tan amorosos uno con el otro.  Así que ya con emoción de esta vez conocer a la niñaaaaaaa  ;)

Lately I have been contacted to do maternity sessions for the second pregnancy of my clients. I love it, because I can get to see those babies I photographed 2 or 3 years ago now older and waiting for their little sibling. But I worry a little that moms will get the exact same pictures than the first time. I guess if they are calling it means they like what I do, but non the less I want them to have something original this time too and we have to also find a way to include a toddler that "knows" something is changing LOL.  So I've been trying to make the posed ones and then some more in the lifestyle line and I really like the result, showcases their real space and it feels to me it is like trapping a moving moment and telling a story.

Here I share you some of the photos of a great family. Big brother is super intelligent and was so happy playing with the letter cubes I use and the parents so fun an loving one another just like in the first session.  And now we are just waiting to meet the little sister!!!!

Cuando uno se dedica a un trabajo creativo, la evolución y los cambios son inevitables. Con la práctica viene de la mano la mejora técnica pero también voy notando como sesión con sesión voy sintiendo la necesidad de hacer algunos ajustes estéticos.  Esto sin contar que estoy siempre intentando aprender cosas nuevas e inspirándome con todo lo que me encuentro.

Tanto cambio se refleja por supuesto en mi negocio y en todas mis comunicaciones.  Planeo tener muchas novedades para mayo. Algunas sorpresas y otras cositas que ya son más bien necesarias.  Y esta sesión que les comparto ahora, es parte de una de las sorpresas.  Por ahora los dejo sólo con una probadita  ;)

Normalmente me toca ver a las familias antes y después del nacimiento. Conozco a los papas para la sesión de maternidad y luego tenemos la sesión con el bebé pero nunca había presenciado la emoción de la llegada de un pequeñin. Gracias a mis amigos Ana y Fernando de Nacer Cuernavaca que me invitaron hace un par de semanas, tuve ahora la oportunidad de verlo con mis propios ojitos y por supuesto a través de mi lente.

No hay mucho que decir, es una de esas cosas que hay que vivir, así que aquí les dejo un videito de la llegada al mundo de un perfecto y hermoso niño llamado Santiago.

Retrato familiar  * Mis pasitos por el mundo

Si han seguido mis pasos por un tiempo, sabrán que mis quincenas se van primero en props para las sesiones y en segundo lugar en viajar. Viajar es mi segunda pasión y es parte de mi estilo de vida como pueden comprobar en mi colaboraciones en el blog de Aromas y Sabores, y como la primera es la fotografía, normalmente me las arreglo para mezclar trabajo y placer y me organizo para viajar y trabajar al mismo tiempo.

Hoy estoy emocionada porque empacar maletas está en mi futuro cercano de nuevo.  Tengo un proyecto en Monterrey con mis amigas de Mundobombis y otro con mi amiga Claudia en Laredo en Abril.  XD

If you have followed me for some time you probably know that most of my earnings go to my prop addiction and to traveling. Trips are my second love and for sure part of my lifestyle and I love to merge work and travel for sure.

Today I'm happy to share that I will be doing some travelling next month and doing a couple of projects, one in Monterrey with my friends from Mundobombis and my newborn photographer friend Claudia in Laredo. Happy!!!!!

Mini sesiones  *  FIND Fundación Investigación Diabetes

¡Tengo olvidado este pobre blog mío! Y es que felizmente estoy a tope de trabajo y no me alcanzan las horas para todas las actividades que toca hacer además de lo bonito que es hacer click con la cámara y editar. Todo el tema logístico me consume.

Un tema que tenía atrasado y que no quiero dejar de contar es lo de las mini sesiones en beneficio de FIND.  Por fechas y locación, al final no tuvimos una respuesta muy grande. Pero las lindas familias que se apuntaron recibieron sus fotos y queremos agradecerles de todo corazón su participación.

A mi me queda la duda de por qué me han preguntado tanto por mini sesiones y al final la gente prefiere una sesión independiente.  Me parece muy bien, por conveniencia, a mi me conviene más definitivamente, pero la verdad es que me hacía mucha ilusión poder aportar un granito de arena a esta causa.

So I haven't posted in a while in my blog, happily I've been super busy not only with sessions and editing but swamped in all the administrative stuff side of this business of mine.

Something I've been wanted to post about and haven't had the time is about the FIND benefit mini sessions last month. Either for dates and location, we didn't get the response we were hoping for. But there were wonderful families that participated and we really want to thank them for their support.

Anyway I really wonder why people keep asking for minis and then many families better asked for a complete session. It is actually better for me but I was really looking forward to join this great cause and participate. So please if you have any comments or ideas on how to make this benefit mini sessions be a success in the future.   Meanwhile I leave you with some photos from that weekend!!!  =)

Daniela Pacheco Fotografía  * ¿Y los peques más grandes qué?

No es una novedad seguramente que lo mío son las sesiones de maternidad y bebés. Es lo que más me gusta y hacia donde apunta con mucha velocidad mi changarrito. Son un reto, toda una experiencia y me encanta poder ofrecer recuerdos hermosos de esta etapa a las familias.

Conforme los niños van creciendo, son menos naturales en cuanto ven una cámara frente a ellos y pasando los 4 o 5 años, a veces las sesiones son súper complejas porque es una lucha entre los integrantes de la familia para conseguir el resultado deseado.

Peeeeeeero, la excepción es cuando hay un tema, un objetivo divertido que devuelve a los niños la ilusión en la experiencia y a los papás y a mi también  ;)  Me encantan las sesiones temáticas, y probablemente en unos meses serán las únicas que ofrezca para peques más grandes.  

Todos se involucran, los peques se emocionan y el resultado es súper especial.

Is not news that I love newborn and maternity sessions, and that my business is going toward specializing in these only. They are a challenge that I enjoy, and I love to be able to offer this experience and to register this time in the life to my dear clients.

As kids grow up, sessions stop being fun to enter sometimes in a negotiation to get the results that parents are expecting but kids don't enjoy them and me neither. 

The good news, is that I've discovered that themed sessions often get back the fun, gives the kids the possibility to look forward the experience and parents and me gain back the fun!  I love this sessions, and probably by the end of the year will be the only ones I will have available for older kids. If all the participants get involved, the kids get super excited and we are able to register big smiles and great expressions.

Así de rápido, como en una carrera contra reloj se nos fue el primer mes del año. Cuando siento que se me van los días como arena entre los dedos, me acuerdo cuando era niña y me desesperaba y algún adulto siempre te decía, "ya verás cuando seas grande que el tiempo se pasa volando".   ¿serán las miles de actividades?  ¿será la rutina? ¿o será la falta de emociones e ilusiones por conseguir ciertas cosas?  No lo se, a mi no me faltan proyectos y sueños por conseguir y a veces siento que son demasidos y me comen viva la verdad  jijiji

En fin, para febrero comienzo con un nuevo proyectito de video, y dándole duro a las fotos y muchas ideas más.  Mientras aprovecho para compartir la foto del primer recién nacido del año.  Que tiene una boquita de moño divina y parecía como un pollito recién salido del cascarón, todavía con pellejitos en la piel que me encanta, tan suave y tan pequeñito él.  =)

This january has gone by so fast! I feel I didn't even see it. I always remember when I was a kid and was expecting something to happen with desperation, how the adults would say "wait until you are older, time passes so much faster"  And it does!!!!!  I'm not sure if it's because all the daily "to do's" or the routine, or maybe it is because of a lack of imagination and illusion to get somewhere.  I certainly have dreams to complete and sometimes I even think I try to get so many!!!

Tomorrow I will start a new project, I'm getting to know video, lets see if I do it any good =)  Plus the photos and so many more ideas.  Meanwhile I share with you a photo of the first newborn baby of the year.  He was so little, so cute, still with all the skin flakes that make them so special.  He's so cute!!!

Retrato infantil  *  De luces y muebles

¡Que ilusión me da cuando llego a una casa y me encuentro con una ventana grande de piso a techo, y casi me da un infarto de emoción cuando además hay pocos muebles y alguno que otro original por ahí.  ;)  Y ya si la pequeña de la casa es sonriente, casi me pongo a dar saltos de alegría.

Les voy a mostrar hoy las fotos de la segunda sesión de una pequeñita hermosa, en cuya casa hay una  pared gris que algún día tendré yo también en un estudio porque eso emparejado con una linda silla amarilla y esos ojos grandes y sonrientes, nos ayudó a conseguir una sesión que hoy es mi consentida  ¡Y eso que no se trata de una pequeña recién nacida!!!!

Oh I'm so happy when I arrive at a house and find a big window and almost die when there are also not many furniture pieces but some original ones here and there.  But I almost start jumping if the little princess of the house is really smiley!!!!

I'm sharing today with you some of the photos of the second session I've had with this little girl, that lives in a house with a gorgeous, empty grey wall that I will have as soon as I have a studio space ;),  and her "tv chair" is a cute little yellow arm chair.  That and her big expressive eyes helped us get a fantastic session, my favorite one right now, and she is not even a newborn baby!!!

Retrato familiar  *  Primer cumpleaños

El primer cumpleaños tiene una magia especial, es el primero de muchos ciclos que se completan, los bebés dejan de ser un muñequito que come y duerme, para convertirse en personitas con las que tenemos mucha más interacción.

Para mi es una ilusión enorme volver a ver a los pequeñitos, comprobar lo que han crecido y festejar con unas fotos divertidas.  Y para muestra, la pequeña V, verán cuánto ha crecido, aunque no ha cambiado nada de nada, mismos cachetes, misma sonrisa  ;)

So the first birthday is a huge thing, magical!  It's when parents have the time to reflect on how much baby has grown, becoming a little person who now has a personality and interact in certain ways. 

For me, it's a delight, I'm always so surprised how much they've changed. Now I show you little miss V, who's grown a lot, but changed not so much. She's as cute as the first day  ;)

Viajes  *  Mi otro yo

Hoy con muchísima emoción, les comparto mi nueva aventura. Newborn * Then and Now

Algunas fotógrafas que sigo han empezado a compartir en los últimos días, gráficas de su evolución y me inspiró tanto que me di a la tarea de hacer lo mismo con mis propias fotos. Escoger sólo 6 es difícil porque cada sesión siento que son mis mejores fotos y porque me encariño con cada uno de los pequeñines y las mamás que me permiten registrar esta hermosa etapa en sus vidas. Muchas gracias a todas ellas y también a Rachel Vanoven Photography que me ha enseñado tanto y a todas las fotógrafas, colegas y amigas algunas que me inspiran cada día.

I want to share a little "then and now" on how my newborn photos have evolved.
